For many years, Gture has worked closely with The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescueto realize the vision “no one should drown” - saving lives, salvaging values and preventing accidents. With more technology, data and information than ever, RS launched “The Digital Rescue Skating” in March 2021. Gture is proud to have been part of this journey and together has developed concepts and services such as RS Sjøliv, which digitises maritime courses and certifications to elevate competence and training quality at sea.
We have had the pleasure of working with The Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue over a number of years on a number of different digital initiatives. RS has impressed us with its forward-thinking approach to innovation and development, and its ability to see how technology can help save lives.
Common to our projects is an agile approach, in which we have worked according to the principles of Design Thinking and Scrum. We have set direction through larger ambitions -- what we have called “waves” -- that have resulted in new and innovative services. At the same time, we have always maintained an iterative and user-friendly development process.
One of the highlights has been working closely with different academic communities in RS. In the development of RS Sjøliv, for example, we have collaborated with course holders, who have been instrumental in shaping a product that meets the needs of users.
By focusing on MVP deliveries and launching early in the boating season, we have received valuable feedback from users — which we have quickly been able to take further into development. This has made it possible to build services that both create value and contribute to RS's important community mission.

We have developed a comprehensive course platform that simplifies the entire course journey — from planning and administration to implementation and evaluation. With our flexible management tool, administrators gain full visibility and control, including managing and approving instructor applications. Now the instructors in Sjøliv consist of 135 certified professionals. At the same time, these instructors, with a customized and limited access, can themselves create course templates, set dates, adjust or cancel bookings, and manage participants.
On the Sjøliv platform, all courses are presented in an intuitive overview where users with a few clicks can filter on digital courses or classroom courses, location and course type. The solution has already delivered impressive results: over 18,504 completed courses (digital and physical) in total, 428 physical courses so far in 2025, and a total turnover of over NOK 17 million. This shows that our platform is not only user-friendly and scalable, but also a profitable investment for instructors, administrators and course participants alike. With this solid base, we are ready to take the course experience to new heights.
