Exerto wanted to create a unique AI-based solution that makes it easier for users to get personalized and reliable advice on exercise, diet and health. A key need was to ensure that the advice was based on official and research-based information, primarily from the Health Directorate's documents. Exerto needed a solution that could both provide relevant answers to end users and at the same time be transparent in terms of source references.
The collaboration with exercise physiologists Ole Holst and Johan Mjelve started with an ambitious idea: to make the Swedish Directorate of Health's Activity Manual available through an AI assistant. We quickly developed a working prototype that translated complex subject knowledge into simple, understandable answers for the user.
Furthermore, we built an extended solution with dietary advice and intelligent video recommendations. Using NB-Whisper Large, we transcribed over 300 training videos and used AI to generate precise summaries, which were indexed in a vector database. The result: an AI that could not only provide tailored advice, but also suggest relevant training videos with direct links and explanations.
To strengthen confidence in the system, we developed a dynamic PDF view that opened exactly the page of the source document the chatbot was basing its response on — complete with highlighted text.
Through a tight, iterative development process and ongoing user testing, we fine-tuned the solution to become an advanced, easy-to-use and knowledgeable AI trainer - built to make health information accessible to everyone.

The result was an intuitive and advanced AI solution that gives Exerto users instant access to personalized advice in exercise, diet and health. Users receive answers that are directly based on official documentation from the Directorate of Health, and carefully selected video suggestions from Exerto's video library. The solution also provides users with suggestions for follow-up questions and clear references to original sources, creating trust, transparency and added value in the user experience.
